Currently there is a special Microsoft program for PeoplePoint customers that provide for the replacement of existing Microsoft Dynamics AX2009 concurrent user licenses with AX2012 named user licenses. Depending on the PeoplePoint modules in use, there is either a 3:1 or an 8:1 trade in replacement available.

AX 2012 New User interface
AX2012 has a newer user interface with a ribbon, preview pane and fact boxes. The area to the right are the fact boxes. These fact boxes provides extra information for the selected record for example the related information fact box shows the contacts and invoices for the customer selected. By using this feature users don’t need to move to other form to get the information. User can get the summarised view of extra information in the fact boxes.
Ability to set up organisational hierarchies to view and report on your business from different perspectives or a hierarchy that is based on operating units to report management financial information or budgeting information.
AX2012 comes with pre-defined Security Roles. The security roles that are assigned to a user determine the duties that the user can perform and the parts of the user interface that the user can view. By managing access through security roles, administrators save time because they do not have to manage access separately for each user. By default, sample security roles are provided. All functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX is associated with at least one of the sample security roles. The administrator can assign users.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 makes it much simpler for business users and people with limited programming skills to set up and automate some sophisticated processes. This lets the people who understand the business and work with these processes on a daily basis define the conditions and business rules, assign tasks, and automate the flow of information through the organisation.
Microsoft Office Add-in (Excel and Microsoft Word)
Not only can you export many forms, lists, and reports from Microsoft Dynamics AX and Enterprise Portal for Microsoft Dynamics AX to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, but by installing the Office Add-ins for Microsoft Dynamics AX, a Dynamics AX tab is added to the ribbon in Excel. This provides access to data in the Microsoft Dynamics AX client (security depending) and the permissions to refresh exported data, you can refresh the data that you export from Microsoft Dynamics AX into Excel.
Dimensions/Chart of Accounts
- In 2012 you can create an unlimited number of user defined dimensions that can be added and selected.
- Financial dimensions can be created by using a form. The process resembles the setup tasks for other base data.
Budgeting Planning and Control
In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, major changes and improvements to budgeting were introduced, which included the introduction of a Budgeting module in its own right, separate from the General Ledger. Microsoft recognised the demand for more sophisticated budgeting solutions, including budget control, so ledger budgets were replaced by budget registers and workflows were introduced to allow budget register entries to be routed around the organisation for review and approval.
